Original construction of the Jackson Brewery building was completed in 1891, once the largest independent brewery in the South, and 10th largest in the country. During Prohibition (1920-1933) this brewery manufactured near beer, alcohol-free malt beverages, root beer and other soft drinks. In 1956 the rights to JAX beer was sold to the New Orleans company which manufactured the beer in this space until 1974 when the brewery closed its doors.
After hurricane Katrina in an effort to help the rebirth of this great city and give back to the community – this space was purchased, gutted and transformed into Jackson Brewery Bistro Bar with the vision of its owner, and B3 Designs. Reclaimed materials, wood and metals are used throughout to marry the charm of yester-year with the modern conveniences of today.
With over 10,000 square feet, full service restaurant, four bars, dance floor, interior mezzanines, exterior patios and a spectacular river view, Jackson Brewery Bistro Bar offers live musical performances featuring local artists and a variety of entertainment.
